This picture is of my mother and father. Eunive Valentine Brown and Kelly Brown Sn.
It was taken in November of 1977, I was 17 at the time, just a few short years
before this was taken Mom was diagnosed to have Chronic Lympnotic Leukemia.

At the time this was taken it was not real noticeable as far as affecting her
outward appearance. She had already had several transfusions of blood from
family members to keep her blood count up to within reason.
As the years progressed it steadily got worse, she had rounds of Chemotherapy,
some Radiation treatments, and absolutely tons of medication she had to take
several times daily. It eventually went to a remise state which lasted for
several years, around 5 years, I think.

I met my wife in the fall of 1981. My daughter, was born in Nov. of 1983
I had lived with mom and dad up until this time and in March of 1984 I landed
a job here in High Point, North Carolina. We moved here and started our own life,
I had reservations about leaving home knowing mom's condition. Her and dad sat me
down and told me that I had been there for them and now it was time for me to worry
about my family. So we came here. Our plans were to spend my vacation during
the 4th of July in Tennessee, with them.

I received a call on June 28th, that mom had gotten a lot worse since our last visit.
We made arrangements to get early time off and went on in, we arrived on Friday.
That Saturday we informed mom that we were getting married on the following
Saturday. Which was July the 7th, the day before my birthday. This seemed to thrill her,
us getting married was something she really wanted and I promised her that we were.
We had waited till money was better and we were on our feet.

Mom passed away on Monday. July the 2nd, she had fought a long hard battle and was
no longer in the pain she had been in for most of my adult years. We had her funeral
on July the 4th, and as I had promised her we were married on the 7th. I had made her
a promise, and I felt I had to keep it .

This page is to remember Mom on her birthday of March 6th
and to thank her for being there, and to apologize for all the problems and aggravation
that I caused her and dad.
